We’re very proud to introduce you to one of our members, George. Here’s an excerpt from his story…
When I hit my 50’s, I saw how my health was gradually declining and I needed to do something about it. I have a gym membership at another facility but it’s really hard to stay self-motivated, you start off great for a few weeks, and then the interest dies down and doing it on my own was not enough. I needed professional help. I want to be in better shape in my 50’s that when i was in my 20’s. When i’m in a middle of a WOD and can barely breathe, my heart is beating through my chest and feel like dropping over, i’m motivated to keep moving on because I know how awesome I’ll feel at the end of the workout. Best of all I have seen MAJOR improvements in my health, strength, stamina and mobility, doing exercises that I never thought was possible for me to accomplish. All of this carries over into my personal life and my ability to perform better at my job and “other activities”.
Before CrossFit I was physically overweight and unhealthy. 5’8” 250 lbs, Borderline high blood pressure and diabetic. Being this way put me into a mentally depressed state, lacking the will to do most things, which in turn made me lazy and worsened my health. I hated how I looked and it really brings me down, especially in the summertime when we’re supposed to be more active and enjoy the outdoors.
I finally got the courage to join CrossFit and from that day forward my WHOLE perspective has changed. I can’t believe that almost all my health numbers are close to normal. I have a better view of myself, more self esteem because I see my body structure changing and it makes me feel good about how I look and more importantly how I feel, (even though I still have a long road ahead of me).
